Tnis Week on Sports Page: Mules Baseball

Mules baseball is one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II.  UCM is a perennial contender for MIAA and regional championships.  And part of the reason has been its ability to attract top coaches and quality prospects.

Two of those individuals are guests this week on Sports Page:  Head Coach Kyle Crookes and senior first baseman John Prudhom.

Coach Crookes has been with the Mules for 11 years, the past nine as head coach.  He boasts a record of 308-113, including a 197-60 mark in the MIAA.  He has led the Mules to four MIAA regular season and five MIAA Tournament championships and three regional titles.  In 2021, Coach Crookes led the Mules to a runner-up finish at the NCAA-II College World Series.

After three seasons as a reserve, John Prudhom burst onto the scene in 2022.  He batted .387 with 19 home runs, 16 stolen bases, 14 doubles, three triples, 70 runs scored, and 69 runs batted in.  The engineering technology major from Racine, Wisc. earned second-team All-MIAA and All-Region honors, as well as MIAA Scholar Athlete accolades.

As usual, we also feature a couple UCM alumni (and this week it's a husband and wife team), take a look at this week in UCM Athletics history, and preview the week ahead in Mules and Jennies athletics.

Sports Page airs every Thursday and Saturday at 6 p.m. live on UCM-The Beat (ucmbeat.com, or download the app for Android).  You can also listen at your leisure if you subscribe to the podcast for Apple, Spotify or Anchor.

And the answer to this week's trivia question ... Well, there isn't one.  Because I forgot to post one last week.  Still getting in the habit, friends.  I'll have one for you this coming Friday!
